Welcome to Verveardor today we shall be talking about culture, I believe we all hail from somewhere and have our various cultural beliefs, well sit back relax and take a walk down with me and kindly do share and like our Facebook page when you done we would appreciate your opinions.

Culture can be said as the social behavior and norms found in human societies or the way of life of a group of people or community, it is transmitted through social learning in human societies as aIt encompasses through some aspect of human behavior such as beliefs, religion, dance steps, music, clothing, language, cooking, and a host of many others found in all societies. In essence of social sciences, culture holds the conditions of human life, from creation to their physical survival through ages so we can say it is the set of customs, traditions and values of a society or community acquired over time.

In cases where two values, beliefs or ideology exist in peaceful coexistence we can as such refer to such existence as Multiculturalism. Cultures are internally infected by both forces encouraging change and forces discouraging change of cultural ideas and structures within a community which is subject to change.

Let’s not forget ACCULTURATION which is the replacement of one’s culture or beliefs with the traits of another such as what happened to many indigenous countries around the globe through colonization.

We still see TRANSCULTURATION in so many societies today which is the adaptation of different culture by an individual.

Also SUBCULTURES which are groups with distinct patterns od learned and shared behavior, ethnicity, races, genders etc. within a large culture. Despite this distinctive traits member of subcultures still share commonalities with the larger societies as they encompass more than one ethnic group or culture.

CHARACTERISTICS OF CULTURE.

This refers to the actions and decision a society practice which reflect the society itself as the number of people you ask to define culture will determine the number of characteristics you get from them based on their ideology and various point of view but similarly they would all relate to a certain phase as culture is transmitted through learning and behavioral shaping of beliefs.

Aspects we shouldn’t forget about culture:

·         Culture is transmitted  or rather shared for we share culture with other members of our group though this doesn’t make up that all culture are the same despite the fact that we can share culture beliefs and ideologies,.

·         Each culture has its own sign or symbol like a tattoo and each symbol stand for something  as a meaning is most times attached to it but the level of importance that these symbol attracts is totally the level of importance its believers accord to it, be it money, dressing, art etc

·         Culture is thought to off springs, foreigners and even passersby in other words culture is learned but most time we unknowingly learn cultures due to some reasons like moving to a new area where they tie their handkerchief on their wrist, we find out that with time we begin to practice this same act for as it is said “if you can’t beat them, you join them” and this process is known as ENCULTURATION.

·         Culture is subject to change as it dynamic because most cultures are in contact with other cultures, they exchange ideas and opinions on their existence. Cultures change some call it cultural upgrade if there is anything of such but culture changes if not they would be difficulties adapting to a new environment and if one system changes it is most likely that the whole system changes.

CULTURAL DIVERSITY

Cultural practices and adaptation diversify so long as man continues to exist and most time questions are been asked and strings pulled as to which culture is best or superior to the other this leads to ETHNOCENTRISM ( which is when one sees his or her culture better than that of others) but since almost everybody values and appreciate his or her way of life they is  a sense of pride amongst individuals with different culture and groups but this can be destructive as many can’t stand to see, hear or watch anyone ridicule their belief and culture, this sometimes leads to crisis here and there in our society, I believe we here at VERVEARDOR belief that our difference in culture and belief is what makes us unique in our own various ways for no culture is better than other cultures what matters most is, if your culture is meeting the needs of its believers.

                Diversity is of many importance so let each and every one of us try as much as possible to advocate our cultural beliefs and help contribute to cultural survival.

COMPONENTS OF CULTURE

Components of culture are simply facts that make up the culture and what they can be identified with e.g.

·         Symbols

·         Language

·         Values

·         Beliefs

·         Dress Code

·         Laws

·         Food, Etc

JOYS OF CULTURE

Personally I would love to travel a lot, to see things feel and taste things feel the joy of as many culture as possible, learn a thing or two from them eat their delicacies learn dance steps for the joys are have yours and mind and learning something new from the norm that you are used to adding flavor to that which you already know having someone to teach you his or hers and you teaching someone yours in any manner you see it fit. Culture is a beautiful thing to behold and a gift to mankind I pray we all cherish and protect our various culture and heritage whilst passing it on from generation to generation.
